TEAM MASTERY ARENA

INSPIRING PERSONAL VISION BULDING

Karlskrona, Baltic Sea. Seventy young leaders from more than twenty countries sit on the wooden floor of an old round wooden building. Academic context: A Masters Program on Strategic Leadership towards Sustainability. One common purpose: build their own personal vision as Sustainability leaders. One exceptional facilitator: Regina Rowland. (Visual facilitation)
One inspiring methodology, based on the cultural anthropologist Angeles Arrien's studies about common meanings of different shapes (spiral, circle, cross, square, triangle) across cultures.
Drawing with a snake, a tree, a flower, a bird, a path, a mountain, a shelter, a butterfly.
Then, guided journalling. Thirteen questions in thirty minutes... may be too much for one morning, but amazingly clarifying. Human needs self-assesment according to Manfred Max-Neef's Human Needs model. Sincere vision sharing with one's partner during lunch time.

INTERCULTURAL LEADERSHIP

My classmates from Israel, Maya and Ronnie, invited us to an Open minded weekly hour. As I wanted to practice my English presentation skills, and prototype a possible presentation for the Team Mastery Event, that will be hosted in Jyväskylä, Finland, next week, I offer my self to pioneer in that space, sharing some thoughts and reflections on intercultural communication and leadership. Although I am used to teach and lecture in Spanish, this lecture was my first presentation in English to such a large audience. Fortunately, I got some positive feedback and they told some specific details to improve. Great learning experience. I like this tribe.

I FEEL LUCKY THESE DAYS

Oh, Yes! I feel so lucky today!
My beloved girls arrived into Karlskrona last week. After a week of logistical adjustment, we feel more comfortable now. He bought some furniture for our new flat. I got a second hand bike in the bike coop.

Today afternoon, I was carrying a heavy bookcase from the Red Cross Second Hand Store and two kind guys from Pakistan (Gudjerat) helped me to carry it. They were Mechanical Engineering students. In our way home, we talked about spanish soccer teams and I learnt my first words in Urdu. I offered them some drinks, but as we are in the Ramadán, they couldn't accept it, so I gave them some bananas to eat after sunset. Thank you, my new friends !
